About Grassrivers
The Grassrivers are Leonida's answer to the Everglades. a sprawling subtropical wetland covering much of Mariana County in southwest Leonida. Airboats carve through sawgrass prairies, alligators lurk in the shallows, and slow-moving rivers wind through endless marshland and mangrove forests. The Grassrivers are one of the most distinct environments in GTA VI, offering a gameplay experience that no previous GTA setting has provided. Trailer footage explicitly shows airboats navigating narrow waterways through dense vegetation, confirming this is not just visual backdrop but a fully playable region. The wetlands support their own activities. wildlife encounters, stealth-based missions using the terrain for cover, and a driving experience completely different from city streets. The Airboat 09, a vehicle type new to the GTA series, was designed specifically for navigating these shallow waters. The Grassrivers also connect to the story: Brian Heder operates his drug running operation from the nearby Keys, and the wetlands' isolation makes them useful for the kind of business that benefits from not being watched.
